Posted below are low resolution images of the 12 photos and the cover of the new 2007 calendar. This is the 4th year and I think this is one of my best. The challenge with a design like this is that each photo is a different ratio but the frame is a fixed size. The second challenge is that the printing company wants a fixed size at 200 DPI resolution. So, using layers I created the black frame with the center a clear transparent hole. Then I resized the high res digital photos to one dimension making the x or y fit the opening. The variable of the other dimension simply was then covered by the black frame. The use of layers allowed for positioning the photo under the frame. JPG images were then lifted off these layers making one compressed file which was then uploaded to CafePress.com.
